Rook and Pawn Endings

Two special events took place on 19th September 2012 and 17th October 2012 at Fircroft. In the September event the fundamentals of rook and pawn endings (R+P vs R) were presented by Edgar Flacker and Paul Shepherd. Angus James also chaired a discussion on recommended chess books for learning and improvement. The October event featured a further presentation of rook ending material prepared by Stef Bruzzi covering the exceptional rook and pawn endings where a rook’s pawn still wins. Chris Briscoe, Nick Pelling and Paul Shepherd also provided some game demonstrations.

All club members were provided with .pgn files, including all of the analysis presented. We have not published that material on this website as its one of the benefits of being a member of Surbiton Chess Club. Fancy joining us?
